Local action alerts
Turn the evidence into pressure where you live.
This starter sheet gives the campaign a rhythm: watch local signals, act quickly, and keep the demand focused on measurable public healthcare recovery.
Watch For
- Emergency department delays, ambulance ramping, or wards operating over capacity.
- Hospital service reductions, hiring freezes, vacancy spikes, or roster gaps.
- Local aged-care closures, bed shortages, dementia-care waits, or home-support cuts.
- Private outsourcing announcements that do not publish cost, outcomes, or workforce impacts.
- Mental-health referral thresholds rising, services closing books, or long private waitlists.
- Local court, Police, or prison stories involving mental-health crisis where earlier care was absent.
Act Within 24 Hours
- Save the article, report, OIA, or firsthand account.
- Write a two-sentence local summary: what happened, who is affected, what system failure it shows.
- Send the MP email template to your electorate MP and one relevant minister.
- Send the same issue to local media with the subject line: "Local healthcare failure needs answers".
- Share the evidence pack with one community group, union branch, school board, or aged-care network.
Message Discipline
Keep every alert tied to the same test: need is rising, access is narrowing, staff are unsafe, and vulnerable people are being pushed downstream. Ask for public reporting, safe staffing, workforce retention, mental-health access, aged-care capacity, and transparent private-contract data.
Local Alert Template
Headline: [Local service/patient/staffing issue] shows healthcare failure in [place]
What happened: [One or two factual sentences with source link.]
Why it matters: This is part of the wider pattern: rising need, narrowed access, unsafe staffing, and pressure being shifted onto patients, families, staff, aged care, and justice services.
Ask: Publish the local recovery plan, staffing numbers, wait times, outsourcing costs, and patient outcome data.
